NPR Oye©
NPR Oye© curates the org’s Latino-related and -celebrated content — once on Twitter, now on Instagram. It’s for everyone from parents and kids, to abuelos and abuelas, to teens, merchants, and visitors to the space. “Oye!” is both a warm welcome and a voice that says “listen up” to call attention to the Latino community.
I leaned on my Latino collaborators to illustrate a place familiar to them. References in NPR Oye©’s art are intentional; they’re meant to be specific yet diverse. Along with illustrating a literal plaza, we developed three decorative patterns inspired by elements you’d see around the area — bricks, flourishing local flora, and ornamental tiles. The illustration style was intended to be modular and full of reusable assets, and illustrated with intention, tangible textures, and detail.
